Washington, DC (July 14, 2010)— Latif Guler of GLAD, LLC is pleased to introduce brunch service and a new happy hour offering at the recently opened Turkish and Greek inspired restaurant Agora, located at 1527 17th Street, NW. With prices that are easy on the wallet, discerning guests can enjoy Agora’s authentic Mediterranean cuisine or relax after work while sampling the restaurant’s premiere beverage and wine selection at unbeatable prices.
The brunch menu was designed by Executive Chef Ghassan Jarrouj and acclaimed Turkish Chef Hasim Guler who is the father of Agora’s owner Latif Guler. Brunch is served on Saturday and Sunday from 11 AM until 3 PM. The menu features an assortment of Spreads including Labneh, strained yogurt with diced apples, walnuts, savory and endive for $6, as well as a Cheese & Cure section, with offerings such as the Kașar, from Kars, Turkey, which is an aged medium-hard pale yellow, sheep milk cheese, served with orange marmalade for $6. A variety of salads are on the menu including the Beet Salad with lemon mashed potatoes, garlic, orange, red beets, savory herb, onion, lemon vinaigrette priced at $7, and the Kaşık Salad with diced tomatoes, onions, parsley, cucumber, feta cheese, black olive, olive oil, vinegar, lemon juice and Turkish red crushed peppers for $7.
Cold Meze options are perfect for enjoying this summer at Agora like the Dolmades, Swiss chard stuffed with pine nuts and tomatoes for $6, or the Patlıcan Közleme,
Charcoal smoked eggplant, green and red peppers, olive oil, garlic, parsley, dill for $6.50.
Then it is on to experiencing the Eggs & More section of the menu at Agora. Don’t miss the Pastirma Egg Benedicts, two poached eggs with cured loin of beef topped with traditional Hollandaise sauce on English muffin for $9, or the Scrambled Eggs with Sucuk, spicy Turkish sausage for $8.50. Agora’s homemade flatbreads will also served to complement the meal such as the Lahmacun, wood-fired Turkish flat bread topped with ground beef, lamb, tomatoes and parsley for $6.
Then for after work fun during the week, Agora’s new happy hour offerings will be reason enough to gather in this central Dupont Circle neighborhood. Every Monday Agora features half price bottles of wine from its “Recession Selection” menu. These wines are regularly priced from $20 to $84 and can be ordered all evening at the 50 percent savings.
Other great cocktails offerings are taking place exclusively in Agora’s bar area, Monday through Friday from 3 PM until 7 PM. Guests can enjoy Bacardi and Stoli drinks for $4 each along with Efes Pilsen, Mytos and Stella Artois beers for $3. Flatbreads and Spreads will also be offered at a discounted price of $4 per order.
For night owls, late night specials will also be available every day of the week from 11 PM until closing time. Barcardi and Absolut drinks will be offered for $4 each and Stella Artois draft for $3. Agora is open Sunday through Thursday from 5 PM to 11 PM, Friday and Saturday from 5 PM to 12 Midnight with a late night menu available until 2 AM.
Agora, which means “gathering place” in Greek brings authentic Turkish cuisine to the heart of Dupont and is designed to be a Mediterranean Oasis. In addition to its main dining room, Agora has plans later this summer to open a second floor addition with private seating for up to 48 guests. During the spring and summer seasons, additional seating is available as the sidewalk café at Agora can accommodate 34 guests for both the lunch and dinner service.
