Agora Hosts Exclusive Wine Dinner Featuring Award-Winning Wines from
WHAT: Agora, known for its alluring Mediterranean cuisine, invites guests to experience wines from Château Mukhrani of Georgia, situated to the northeast of Turkey. Priced at $60 per person, all inclusive, the menu will consist of four courses prepared by Executive Chef Ghassan Jarrouj each paired with highly rated releases. Agora’s wine director Thierry Lesparre will be on hand to pour the award-winning vintages which include Château Mukhrani, Tavkveri 2010; Château Mukhrani, Saperavi-Cabernet-Sauvignon 2007; Teliani Khvanchkara, Mujuretuli-Alexandrouli 2008, as well as the Château Mukhrani, Goruli Mtsvane 2009, which received the bronze medal at the Hong Kong Wine & Spirits International Competition in October 2011.

WHY: Georgia is known by many to be the birthplace of winemaking. Archaeological digs have found traces of winemaking going back as far as the Stone Age. Its remarkably varied topography ranges from near desert in the east to subtropical lowlands in the west along the black sea that receive up from 3 to 13 feet of rain per year. The rich soil, climate and the variety of grapes all play a role in the production of the wines produced by the Mukhrani Estate.
Chateau Mukhrani was founded in 1878 by Ivane Bagration of Mukhrani, heir to the royal family of Georgia. After a career in the military, Price Bagration returned to Georgia in 1876 and cultivated his own winery, introducing contemporary techniques, which were already widely used throughout Europe. The combination of local traditions and new techniques revolutionized the quality of Georgian wine. Over the years, Chateau Mukhrani has become world renowned for its pristine vineyards and grapes.
