Agora Debuts New Dishes and Cocktails for Summer

Washington, DC (May 27, 2014) – Agora, the Mediterranean oasis located just off Dupont Circle at 1527 17th Street, NW, Washington, DC, 20036, is pleased to announce the addition of new Mediterranean-inspired dishes and seasonal cocktails for summer. These new a la carte items can be enjoyed all season long in the 180-seat restaurant, or while dining al fresco on the 34-seat sidewalk café. Prepared by Executive Chef Ghassan Jarrouj, the new additions not to be missed include Baba Ghanouj, roasted eggplant, garlic, tahini and fresh lemon juice topped with olive oil and pomegranate seeds; Goat Cheese mixed with black caraway seeds served with honey; Fasulye, large lima beans tossed with fresh dill, olive oil, garlic and lemon juice; Enginar, artichoke bottom filled with diced carrots, potatoes and sweet peas braised in olive oil; Makanek, Lebanese lamb sausage sautéed in olive oil, lemon juice, parsley and shoe string potatoes; Tuna Tartar, diced ahi tuna with chives, Harissa served with crispy lavash bread, as well as Merluza, pan seared Spanish hake with sea beans, topped with pesto and roasted red peppers. Menu items are priced from $7 to $14 each. To complement Chef Jarrouj’s menu, Agora is debuting a few new libations. Guests can look forward to three new additions including the 52 to 90, made from a combination of Tanteo Jalapeño Tequila, Combier Orange Liqueur, cilantro, lime, agave nectar and house-made sour mix; the Yaz Breeze, made with homemade lemonade infused with strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, fresh ginger and limoncello topped with François Montand sparkling wine, as well as the Anason, made with raki, Casa Mariol Vermouth, orange wedges, brandy soaked cherries and soda water. Cocktails are priced from $9 to $12 each. Agora, which means “gathering place”, brings authentic Turkish cuisine to the heart of Dupont. In addition to its main dining room, Agora offers a second floor addition with private seating for up to 50 guests seated or up to 80 for a standing reception.
